One of the biggest requests we receive from our Moms on Mushrooms community is "where can I go on a psychedelic or women's retreat" and "do you have excellent guide/facilitator recommendations?"
Conversely, we are approached daily from guides, facilitators and retreats wants to promote their services to our community, and rightfully so! The 3,000+ mothers inside our private portal are THE LITERAL BEST.
Our concern: The psychedelic space isn't without it's dark side, and unfortunately we are frequently made aware of practitioners and retreat centers who are facilitating Earth Medicines with practices and actions that are careless, not transparent, not in integrity and are often very damaging, even life-threatening to those who have put their faith and vulnerability (and money) in the hands of psychedelic stewards. These discussions seems to be mostly "on the down low" with a lot of us in the space whispering in conversation about sexual misconduct, substance abuse, taking money, disgusting employee treatment, racism, sexism and more.
Gratitude & more concern: We are so grateful for advocacy groups like the Matriarchal Alliance for Accountability and Transparency (MA'AT) who work hard to bring these stories to light and victims to justice; and organizations like Seek Safely Promise and the Zendo Project who elevate a safe code of conduct and educate about harm reduction.
We're also grateful for organizations like the Chacruna Institute and The Fountain who protect sacred plants and cultural traditions while promoting reciprocity and respect with indigenous cultures.
Psychedelic training programs abound to try and create common best practices within the psychedelic space, but the truth is: we're not a regulated market and it feels like just about anyone these days can decide to serve psychedelic medicine with so much as a click on a website design program.
Our vision: We're here because we 100% believe that bad actors and fly by night "influencers" are the exception, not the rule. As a psychedelic organization devoted to the safety and protection of mothers, we feel it's time to lead by example and demand an impeccable Standard of Care from psychedelic guides and retreat centers who wish to promote human flourishing and offer their services to a wider web of clients .
So, how do we safely and mindfully provide these resources to our community?
Our course of action: After a lot of thought and counsel from respected mentors and peers in the space, we've come up with a solution: THE MOTHERBOARD: an exclusive and highly vetted directory of psychedelic guides, facilitators and retreat centers who both meet our internal Standard of Care and have an impeccable reputation within the psychedelic space and with their clients. This doesn't mean you have to be famous or have a multimedia online presence; you simply must have good references from colleagues and clients who have seen your character in action. This should be expected from anyone in business by the way.
We are willing to put our time and resources into creating this guide through a thorough and mindful vetting process so that we may continue to be in service to the mothers who make up the Moms on Mushrooms community.
Our value: This isn't a task we are taking lightly, and it will involve hours of research and relationship building with our applicants. There is a yearly cost to be listed in THE MOTHERBOARD and we're confident we can successfully exceed your ROI expectations and offer excellent leads far beyond what you could get through traditional online marketing, and at a fraction of the cost and headache.
We are excited to work with - and elevate - psychedelic guides and retreat centers who share the same values as we do. We seek respectful partnership with service providers who understand the potentials of aligning with the largest and fastest growing international psychedelic mom's group on the planet.
